Strike action having 'detrimental impact on cleanliness' across the Borough

Strike action is having a 'detrimental impact' on cleanliness across the Borough according to Causeway Coast & Glens Council.

Director of Environmental Services Aidan McPeake responded to litter concerns raised by Councillor Angela Mulholland saying that it was "out of their hands" due to strike action.

Councillor Mulholland said she raised further concerns with the director about the amount of litter at weekends in Portrush / Portstewart.

Responding the director said, "We will instruct litter enforcement teams to have more of a presence in the Ports on weekends to see if that will deter the litter dropping and that we have plans for additional cleansing resources for Easter weekend."
