Swimmer dies after getting in trouble at Carnlough

A swimmer has died after getting into difficulty in the Bay Road area of Carnlough.

RNLI, HM Coastguard, Police, NIAS, NIFRS, and Helimed 23 (NI Air Ambulance) attended the incident.

In a statement to Causeway Coast Community a NIAS spokesperson said "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 13.35 on Wednesday, 04 August 2021 following reports of an incident in the Bay Road area of Carnlough.

"NIAS despatched one Emergency crew to the scene. The charity Air Ambulance with HEMs crew on board was also tasked to the incident. No one was taken from the scene."
