Three arrested following stabbing incident in Coleraine

Police are investigating following a report of a woman being stabbed in Coleraine.

It is believed that the incident, which was reported at around 5.20am yesterday, Sunday 30th January, took place in the Weavers Court area of the town.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and was later released.

A 50-year-old male and a 31-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

A 52-year-old male also arrested was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are continuing, and anyone who may have information which could assist is asked to contact police on 101 and quote reference number 510 30/01/22.

East Londonderry MLA Maurice Bradley said "The very vicious public nature of this attack is exceptionally chilling and I utterly condemn it. There is absolutely no place for this type of crime in our community and those responsible should feel the full weight of the law.

"Anyone with information should contact the police immediately on 101."
