Two fire appliances responded to an early morning call in Portrush where three-stop valve chambers were set on fire.
In a statement to Causeway Coast Community an NI water spokesperson said “NI Water is aware of an incident this morning 23rd August, where three stop valve chambers in Glenbush Drive, Portrush were deliberately set on fire.
“NI Water is condemning this reckless act and is relieved it didn’t spread any further. Thanks to the residents for their quick reaction in reporting it and to the NIFRS for their efforts in extinguishing the fire.
“Acts of vandalism such as this puts the wellbeing of the whole community at risk; meters can be replaced, lives cannot.
“NI Water is in the process of repairing any damaged caused.”
