Coleraine and Ballycastle CRTs were tasked to a family who had been cut off by the incoming tide at Pigeons Cove, Castlerock earlier this afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard said “The family did the right thing and called the Coastguard. They gave a good description of their location and were quickly located by the Castlerock RNLI lifeguard jetski.
“They were brought to safety by Portrush Inshore lifeboat while the Coastguard teams at the top of the cliff prepared for a rope rescue if required.
“All were safe and well but the tide comes in fast and very soon they would have been in a very serious situation. If you find yourself becoming cut off by the tide, don’t hesitate and dial 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.”
